Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world? biggest shipbuilder, recently received a $110 million order for 113 Packaged Power Stations (PPS) units from Equitatis SA, an Ecuadorian company.

Hyundai Heavy? PPS, a containerized diesel generator, uses Hyundai Heavy? in-house brand HiMSEN engine as its prime mover and runs on both light and heavy oil.

Sixty units with 102 MW total capacity and fifty-three units with 90 MW total capacity will be supplied to Quevedo City and Santa Elena City from November this year. Once operational, the PPSs will produce enough electricity for 200,000 households.

This new order broke Hyundai Heavy? new PPS sales record for the first eight months of a year with $270 million, an 11.6% increase over the previous record of $242 million set in 2008.

Due to their mobility and ease of installation, Hyundai Heavy? PPSs are gaining popularity in the Middle East and South America.
