The New World Alliance (TNWA) carriers – APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) – today announced a revised Asia-US East Coast service, which will include the Grand Alliance (GA) lines – Hapag-Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).

From December 3rd, 2008, the GA carriers will join the TNWA¡¯s NYX (New York Express) service.

The NYX will move from an eight to nine ship loop, with the TNWA and GA providing five and four ships, respectively.

The revised NYX service will make an additional westbound call at San Pedro and an eastbound stop at Shekou. The revised port rotation is Shanghai, Shekou, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Panama Canal, Manzanillo, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Manzanillo, San Pedro, and Busan.

The revised NYX service will continue to be complemented by the TNWA¡¯s other Asia-US East Coast via the Panama Canal services – the ESX (East Coast Savannah Express) and APX (Atlantic Pacific Express).

The service changes have been made to adjust capacity to significantly lower demand, while ensuring customers¡¯ transportation needs continue to be met.
