Hanjin Shipping announced that it is extending its Thailand feeder network by adding the Evergreen Marine Corp. (EMC) TWT (Taiwan - Thailand) service running between Laem Chabang and Kaohsiung on a weekly basis starting from August 24th, 2008.
This feeder service, transshipping cargo from Laem Chabang via Kaohsiung, is expected to reduce transit times from Thailand to the West Coast of the US by 6 days. The company believes that shorter times will upgrade the competitiveness of its service and also increase the cargo volume in the trade.
Hanjin Shipping has 4 different feeder services transshipping cargo from Thailand to the US and believes that adding this service will enable the company to accommodate growing cargoes from Thailand while easing vessel space shortage problems during peak seasons.
The company plans to continue cooperation with other major carriers to extend its feeder network.
