FESCO launches its largest boxship 2008-10-23 ¿ÀÀü 10:23:25

Russian shipping liner FESCO, on October 11, launched the first of a series of boxships in Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa.

The vessel, FESCO VITIM, is the largest container ship ever built for FESCO. The newbuilding specifications are as follows: 41,850 deadweight tons, 3,091 TEU container capacity, 220.5 m length overall, 32,24 m breadth, 12 m draught, a speed of 22 knots and 650 reefer sockets. The new vessel will disembark on its maiden voyage in January 2009.

The first boxship in the series has already been deployed on the service between Northern European ports and St. Petersburg.

The shipbuilding contract between FESCO and Stocznia Szczcinska Nowa was signed in July, 2005. The Polish shipyard will build 7 containerships for FESCO with another three sister-ships for FESCO DIOMID and three 1,730 TEU boxships.
