Hamburg, 23 September 2008 - Another seven ultra-large container vessels have been added to the order book: The Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has signed the contract for classification with Germanischer Lloyd (GL) today. Mr. DY Han, Senior Executive Vice President HHI and Member of GLKorean Shipbuilding Committee, met with Dr Hermann J. Klein, Germanischer Lloyd? Member of the
Executive Board, at the opening of the shipbuilding trade fair SMM in Hamburg.

The seven containerships will go to German shipowner MPC Capital. Steel cutting for the first vessel will begin in November 2010 at HHI? yard in Ulsan, Korea. With a construction time of nine months per vessel, the final ship will be delivered in June 2012.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. is the world's largest shipbuilder company, headquartered in Ulsan, South Korea.


Founded in 1972, HHI produces tankers, bulk carriers, containerships, gas and chemical carriers. The company also makes ship engines, provides offshore oil and gas drilling platforms, and undersea pipelines.
