September 11, 2008 saw the christening of the ?onte Azul? the second replica of a second series of ten vessels of the successful 5,552 TEU ?onte?class, at the Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI) yard in Romania. It was the first ship christening for Hamburg Sud in Romania.
The sponsor of the first Hamburg Sud newbuilding from DMHI is Tyra Fischer, daughter of Ulrich Kallmeyer, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Radeberger Group KG and Member of the Executive Board of the Oetker Group.
Following her delivery in late September, the ?onte Azul?is to be phased into Hamburg Sud's New Good Hope Express (NGX) service between Asia, South Africa and South America East Coast.
